Charley’s Aunt

Synopsis

Charley’s Aunt is a hilarious farce about two young men trying to propose to two young women! However, without a chaperone to assist them these men are destined to have their hopes dashed. Until their friend Fancourt Babberly, (yes that is his real name) discloses that he is in a local theatrical (play) would like their opinion on his costume. Charley and his friend Jack have a ‘light bulb moment’ and coerce Babbs to play Charley’s millionaire aunt from Brazil, so they can win the hand of their beloveds. Mistaken identify and the hot pursuit of unrequited love. This is a fun family friendly comedy, a must see by our senior students.

Director’s Notes

This has been a fun show to work on with this clever and talented cast. Comic timing  and a well-educated and articulate educated accent are always challenging in our contemporary society and these students have risen to the challenge marvellously. In theatre, when a man dresses as a woman, you can just about be guarantee that the audience will love it…and our Charley’s  Aunt is no exception to this theatrical rule.
